Fresh Egg Handling & Cleaning Instructions
Egg Collection & Lay Dates
Check the date range your eggs in this carton were laid on: Batches
Best if used within 3-4 weeks after lay date
How to Store Your Eggs
Refrigerated Eggs: Store at or below 45°F (7°C) for best freshness.
Unwashed Eggs: Can be stored at room temperature (65–70°F or lower) if kept dry.
Washed Eggs: Must be refrigerated, as washing removes the natural protective coating (bloom).
How to Clean Fresh Eggs
Dry Cleaning: If eggs are lightly soiled, use a dry brush or cloth to wipe off debris.
Washing (if necessary):
Use warm water (90-110°F) – never cold, as it can cause bacteria to be drawn inside the shell.
Avoid soaking eggs. Briefly rinse under running water.
Let air dry on a clean towel.
How to Check for Freshness
Visual Inspection: Look for cracks or discoloration.
Smell: If the egg smells bad when cracked, it’s spoiled.
Float Test: Place the egg in a bowl of water:
Sinks & lays flat: Very fresh
Stands upright: About 1-2 weeks old but still good
Floats: No longer fresh – do not consume
Safe Handling & Cooking
Always wash hands before and after handling raw eggs.
Cook eggs to an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) to ensure safety.
Enjoy your eggs within 3-4 weeks of the lay dates for best quality!
